Good afternoon prevention partners: The theme for Red Ribbon Week (October 23-31) this year is Be Happy. Be Brave. Be Drug Free. Take time this week to encourage parents to share the ways being drug free has positively impacted their own life with their children and motivate them to make good choices when it comes to trying alcohol or other drugs. Accompany your Red Ribbon messaging on Social Media this week with SAMHSA’s drug-specific resources, and remember that Red Ribbon Week is the perfect time to post that second Reel we shared earlier this month! SAMHSA’s Keeping Your Kids Safe Brochures are drug-specific resources that parents and caregivers can use to get informed and be prepared for conversations about avoiding drugs with their kids. As you consider ways to use Talk. They Hear You. in your community, don’t hesitate to reach out to the campaign team with questions at underage.drinking@samhsa.gov. We are always happy to help and share best practices! |
The “Talk. They Hear You.” campaign aims to reduce underage drinking and substance use among youths under the age of 21 by providing parents and caregivers with information and resources they need to address alcohol and other drug use with their children early.
